Mirra Andreeva vs Anna Bondar Prediction & Betting Tips - Gstaad, Switzerland
by Nella Wagah in Tennis Predictions
Sixth seed Mirra Andreeva and unseeded Anna Bondar will on Thursday face off at the Ladies Open Lausanne. The winner of this second-round showdown will play either Sara Sorribes Tormo, Tamara Zidansek, or Lucia Bronzetti in the quarterfinals. Mirra Andreeva is flying high in 2023. The 16-year-old has reached the second week of competition at Wimbledon and the Madrid Open debuting in the main draw in both. She has also defeated several WTA top 20 and a top 10 player. And to top it all off, she has won two titles in the ITF circuit. The Russian is one of the form players in the WTA and has won 29 of the 33 matches she has played. Twenty-three of her victories have come on clay, a surface where both her ITF titles have been won. Making her debut in Lausanne, Andreeva made light work of the alternate Dayana Yastremska in the first round. She won the tie in straight sets allowing Yastremka just two games. She is up to a new career-high ranking of world number 60 in the live ranking.
Anna Bondar is not having a season anywhere close to the one Andreeva is having. The Hungarian has struggled with her form and has lost more matches than she has won. She has compiled a 12-17 win-loss record. The majority of her victories, nine have come on clay and so too have eight of her defeats. Bondar is a strong performer on clay and has over the years compiled a 255-118 record on the surface. She will hope this coupled with her experience will see her prolong her stay here past this round. The 26-year-old is also making her debut in Lausanne. She was also dominant in her opening-round match against Aliona Bolsova and won in straight sets with only four games dropped. Bondar began the season ranked 75th in the world but her struggles have seen her drop out of the top 100. She is currently ranked 150th in the live ranking, moving up five places following her first-round win here.
