Fifth seeded Miomir Kecmanovic takes on unseeded Jack Draper in the Lyon Open second round. The winner of this match will play either the fourth seed Francisco Cerundolo or unseeded Juan Pablo Virallas in the next round. Kecmanovic began this clay court tournament ranked 36th so may miss out on a seeding at Roland Garros. That wouldn't have been the case in mid-January when he was a career high 27th in the rankings. His clay court season has been hit and miss this year. He got to the final in Estoril, losing to Casper Ruud and the last four in Banja Luka. However, he has also lost his first match in the three Masters events played on clay. He got back into winning ways with a straight sets win over a lucky loser in the first round. 

Jack Draper has again showed promise this year but still battles injury problems. He starts this Lyon Open ranked 60th but that's 22 places below his career high achieved in January. The British player reached a semi-final in Adelaide and the last 16 at Indian Wells. This is only his second clay court tournament of the year due to injury. The other was in Monte Carlo where he got to the last 16. Wins came over Daniel Evans and Andy Murray but he then lost to Carlos Alcaraz. He only won two games in the first set and was 2-0 down oin the second when retiring. Draper beat Alexandre Muller in the first round here for the loss of only five games.
