Miomir Kecmanovic and compatriot Dusan Lajovic will face off in the opening round at the Australian Open. The winner of their third career meeting will then play Hubert Hurkacz or Tallon Griekspoor. Below is our prediction for this match.

Kecmanovic is having a strong start to the year and will be confident of getting his first win against his fellow Serb. He has won four of six matches and is coming off a run to the semi-finals in Adelaide.

Kecmanovic, who’s won all of his four matches in straight sets, has moved up to 51st in the live ranking. Last season, the 25-year-old made it to the fourth round in Melbourne for the second time in three seasons.

Dusan Lajovic won both times he has been up against his younger compatriot. Both wins, however, have been on clay.

He will hope to continue this dominance despite his struggles on hard courts. Lajovic lost seven of 10 hardcourt matches last season and has this year already lost three times on the surface.

He has compiled an underwhelming 2-3 record and only once has he battled against a player ranked in the ATP’s top 50. Lajovic, who has lost in the opening round in his last two appearances in Melbourne, is placed 78th in the live ranking.
