Minnesota Wild vs Tampa Bay Lightning Prediction & Betting Tips - NHL
by Joseph King | in NHL Predictions
Two of the league’s best teams face off when the Tampa Bay Lightning take on the Minnesota Wild at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Wild are sitting third in the Central division with 21 wins, 13 losses and two overtime defeats to put them on 44 points. They trail the first-place Dallas Stars by eight points and the second-place Jets by five. Minnesota have hit a run of inconsistency over the last two weeks after trading a win for a loss in their last four games. Still, the Wild had previously won six straight leading up to the current run and have been able to win eight of their last 10 games overall. Their last game was a victory against the Blues, where they ran out 5-2 winners on New Year’s Eve. They’ve had a full three days rest ahead of this game against the Lightning so they should be well-rested.
Coming into town is the Lightning who have been on an electric run of form over the past two weeks. Tampa has won their last four games on the bounce and will look to make it five against a tough Western Conference opponent. Last season’s Stanley Cup runners-up are up to third in the Atlantic division with a record of 24 wins, 11 losses and 1 overtime defeat putting them on 49 points. However, due to Boston’s unbelievable season so far, the Lightning find themselves trailing the top spot by 13 points while they also trail the second-place Maple Leafs by four. Tampa Bay is coming off a 4-1 win over Chicago in their matchup on Tuesday. The Bolts will have a short turnaround this time out as they will have to play the second leg of a back-to-back here.
