The Phillies have won their first couple of games of Spring Training and they head to play the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday. There has been an overhaul in pitching in Minnesota with Kenta Maeda, Sonny Grey and Tyler Mahle all moving on. Adding Anthony DeSclafani to Joe Ryan and Pablo Lopez gives them some depth at least. Carlos Santana should slot straight into the slugger role that Joey Gallo has vacated but so much is going to hinge on whether Byron Buxton manages to stay healthy this season or not. He has only once managed to play more than 92 games in the nine seasons that he has been in the league which has been to the detriment of the team.

Beaten in the 2022 World Series, the Phillies went to a deciding game 7 in the NLCS against the Arizona Diamondbacks last season. The first task this year is to make it back into the postseason once more, though their success has not come with National League East titles, the Atlanta Braves winning those. Aaron Nola has signed on for another seven years which is a massive plus for their starting rotation. With Kyle Schwarber, Trea Turner and Bryce Harper as the top three batters in their lineup, they will be expecting to score plenty of runs this season. They are pretty much unchanged from one through nine in the lineup which is going to give fans plenty of hope that they can be more than competitive once more and the early signs in Spring Training are positive.
