Minnesota Twins vs Houston Astros Prediction & Betting Tips - MLB
by Joseph King | in Baseball Predictions
Game three of the ALDS in the MLB Playoffs sees the Minnesota Twins looking to go up 2-1 as they host the Houston Astros. The winner of this best-of-five series advances to the ALCS and a matchup against either the Orioles or the Rangers. The Twins were able to steal home field advantage away from Houston thanks to their 6-2 win in game two on the road. They now have a chance to close out the series in front of their home fans with the next two games set to take place at Target Field. Minnesota is in good form in this postseason so far. They beat the Blue Jays two games to zero in the Wild Card round and split the first two games in Houston. The Twins finished the regular season atop the AL Central with 87 wins and 75 losses. They’ve now won 11 of their last 15. Sonny Gray gets the start for the hosts in game three and was 8-8 in the regular season with a 2.79 ERA.
Despite losing home field advantage, Houston will be confident considering their superb results on the road this season. The Astros finished the 2023 regular season with the third-best road record in the big leagues with 51 wins and 30 losses (63%). However, they’ll have their hands full here against a Twins team that appears to be picking up steam at the perfect time. The Astros clinched the AL West on the final day of the regular season, beating out the Rangers with a 90-72 record. The defending champions had previously won five games in a row before the game two loss to the Twins. It was also the first time that Houston's defense had given up more than four runs during that winning streak. They’ll turn to Cristian Javier as the starter on Tuesday, with the 26-year-old boasting a 10-5 record and 4.56 regular season ERA.
