An inter-conference matchup in the NBA sees the West’s first-place Minnesota Timberwolves hosting the East’s sixth-placed New York Knicks. The Timberwolves have been arguably the surprise team of the 2023/24 season as they have shot up to the top of a congested Western Conference. After losing two of their first three to start the year, Minnesota would then respond by ripping off a seven game winning streak. They pulled off a comeback 121-120 win over the Pelicans in their most recent appearance to move to 9-3 on the season. Minnesota return to the Target Center for this clash where they are a perfect 5-0 on the season. The most impressive part of the Wolves performance has been their defense, where they rank among the very best in the league. 

The Knicks endured a worrying start to the new season which saw them go 2-4 in their first six games. Since then, they’ve managed to win six of their last seven overall to move up to 8-5 on the year and sixth in the Eastern Conference. They come into this matchup riding a three-game winning streak after a 122-108 away win over the Hornets. New York is 3-1 on their current five game road trip which they close out tonight against a formidable opponent. The improved play of Julius Randle is a big part of why the Knicks have been able to turn things around in the month of November. Randle went from averaging just 13.7 points in the first six games of the season to 24.3 in his last seven.
