The Minnesota Timberwolves (40-30) are set to host the New Orleans Pelicans (18-51) at Target Center in Wednesday's NBA Western Conference matchup. The Timberwolves are seventh in the table, while the Pelicans are 14th. Here's our match prediction.

The Minnesota Timberwolves failed to live up to their title as the overwhelming favourite against the shorthanded Indiana Pacers on Monday. They fell to the Pacers 130-132 in overtime at Target Center.

Anthony Edwards led the way with 38 points while Naz Reid contributed 21 points in the defeat. As a team, they shot 45.4% from the field and made 13 three-point field goals from 42 attempts.

Before their loss to the Pacers, the Timberwolves were on an eight-match winning streak. They head into this clash seeking to revive their former glory in what will be their fourth match of a five-game homestand.

The New Orleans Pelicans lived up to their status as underdogs in their match against the Detroit Pistons. At the Smoothie King Center, they were victims of a devastating 127-81 defeat.

Despite that defeat, Zion Williamson was the standout player,  posting a game-high 30 points. Yves Missi achieved a double-double racking up 12 points and had 10 rebounds.

The Pelicans have now lost three consecutive matches and have a 1-7 record. They head into their first match of a three-game road trip with hopes of snapping their losing run.
