Milos Raonic takes on Jesper de Jong in the ABN AMRO Open first round. Eighth seed Alexander Bublik or unseeded Borna Coric are the potential opponents in round two of this indoor hard court tournament. Raonic came straight into this main draw on his protected ranking. In the live rankings, the Canadian is only 309th but was third eight years ago. Injuries have blighted the career of Raonic who was a Wimbledon finalist in 2016. Now aged 33 he's only played one match this year. That was in the first round of the Australian Open where he was one set all with Alex de Minaur but then retired when 2-0 down in the third set. Only ten matches have been played by Raonic since 2022 and he's 5-5 with a 3-2 record on hard courts.

Jesper de Jong carries the hopes of the Dutch fans who will attend this match in Rotterdam. He's also way down the rankings and is 141st in the live list. In terms of ranking points earned this year, the 23-year-old is in 96th position. This year has seen him reach the quarter final of a Challenger Tour event held in New Zealand. He then won three matches to qualify for the main draw of the Australian Open. The Dutchman made it to round two but lost to the eventual champion Jannik Sinner in straight sets.  Moving to Europe his time in Montpellier didn't go well with an exit in the first qualifying round. This is a tough match to predict with Raonic rarely playing and we tip de Jong to win.
