The first half of the 2025 Premier League Darts season will draw to a close with Michael van Gerwen taking on Nathan Aspinall on Thursday night in Newcastle. MVG is in third place in the league standings, while The Asp is sixth after seven rounds. Let’s get into the match prediction!
After a mixed start to the Premier League, Michael van Gerwen will be feeling a lot better about himself, having made his first final of the competition last week against Luke Littler in Cardiff.
While he did lose the match, there were several positives he would have taken from his performance, including beating Luke Humphries and Chris Dobey in the earlier rounds. It also took a nine-darter from Littler to pull clear.

Meanwhile, Nathan Aspinall was unable to improve his eight-point tally and sixth place in the Premier League last week, having suffered a first-round defeat to Luke Littler 6-3.
However, The Asp bounced back in fine style, winning the European Tour 2 competition 8-4 against Joyce, after beating Gary Anderson in a nail-biter 7-6 in the semi-final.
Aspinall will therefore certainly enter this match with bags of confidence, which he will need, given that he has only beaten MVG twice in their last 10 encounters.
