The Miami Heat and Orlando Magic are set to get their 2024-25 NBA seasons underway when they meet at the Kaseya Center on Thursday. The Heat ended last season in eighth place in the Eastern Conference, while the Magic finished fifth. Check out our match prediction below. 

After a fairly impressive season, posting a record of 46-36, the Miami Heat slumped to a disappointing end, knocked out of the playoffs in the first round by the Celtics. 

Notably, the Heat’s major strength last term came from their defence, which had the fifth-best rating in the league, but their offence is where major improvement will be needed. 

At home, Miami were 22-19 last season, but most would agree that could have been a lot better had the likes of Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, and Tyler Herro remained fit for the entire campaign.

Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic were arguably one of the biggest surprise packages last season, recording 47 wins and 35 losses to earn a spot in the playoffs. 

Now in their fourth season under Jamahl Mosley, the team looks set to challenge for top honours again, especially after acquiring Kentavious Caldwell-Pope during the offseason. 

Orlando were 18-23 on the road last season, and have lost four of their last five meetings against this opponent.
