The NBA's two-game Thursday slate gets started with an Eastern Conference clash as the third-place Miami Heat host the sixth-place Brooklyn Nets. After making the NBA Finals last season, Miami experienced a slow start to the 2023/24 campaign. They came out of the gates with just one win from their first five games. Since then, however, the Heat have come roaring back and now possess the NBA’s longest active winning streak at six games. Miami’s last outing resulted in a 111-105 away win over the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday. The victory capped off a successful four game road trip, making the winning streak even more impressive. The Heat now return to the Kaseya Center where they are 3-1 on the season. Their only loss in this building came against their opponents today at the beginning of the month.

Brooklyn should be confident coming into this matchup. They already beat the Heat this season, grabbing a 109-105 win in this arena to extend their current winning streak over the South Beach based team. The Nets will be looking for another playoff appearance after last year’s drama-filled season which saw them finish sixth in the conference with a 45-37 record. Brooklyn underwent major changes mid season with the trades of James Harden, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. However, the result from all those trades is an extremely deep team with some really nice pieces led by Mikal Bridges. Brooklyn have amassed a 6-5 record which places them sixth in the East and has them sitting three games off leaders Boston. Their most recent game was a 124-104 blowout home win over the Orlando Magic, their second straight victory and third in the last four games.
