Second seed Gregoire Barrere and the unseeded Maxime Cressy will on Saturday seek a place in the Open de Rennes final. The two will square off in the semifinals with the winner playing either eighth-seed Benjamin Bonzi or qualifier Matteo Martineau in the final. Maxime Cressy has been in fine form in Rennes and has won his three rounds without dropping a set. He defeated unseeded Mattia Bellucci by the loss of 11 games in the last round. This is the best form the American has been in since his run to the final in Montpellier back in February. Cressy has struggled all through 2023 and has lost 10 more matches than he has won. He has compiled a 13-23 record though has dominated on indoor hard courts where he has won nine of 12 fixtures. The former world number 31 is now up 11 places to 115th in the live ranking.

Gregoire Barrere also won his previous round fixture against Radu Albot in straight sets. It was his second straight sets victory in the competition. He lost just four games against Albot and with his form this year, he will be confident of making the final. The Frenchman has won 30 of the 54 matches he has played this year. The majority of his victories, 14, have come on indoor hard courts where he has dominated, losing just three times. His form on the surface has resulted in the only silverware of his season as he won the Quimper Challenger. He is currently ranked 62nd in the live ranking and can move up to 59th with a win on Saturday.
