Matteo Berrettini has compiled a winning run at the Monte Carlo Masters and will hope to extend it against Lorenzo Musetti. The two Italians meet in the third round of the competition, marking a third match between them. We have a prediction below.

Berrettini, making his fourth appearance at this event, posted a massive win in beating top seed Alexander Zverev in the last round. That three-set victory took his record at Monte Carlo to 4-3.

He has never gone past this round before. But with his numbers on clay, we expect a powerful performance here too. Berrettini has lost once in his last 20 clay court matches. He won three titles in the last four clay tournaments he took part in.

Musetti had a sluggish start to the competition but scraped through three-set wins against qualifier Bu Yunchaokete and Jiri Lehecka in the two rounds. Coming into this match, the world number 16 will hope higher ranking plays a role in the outcome.

In the very first meeting between these Italians, Musetti registered a 2-0 win in Naples three years ago. That could turn insignificant, given his recent form.

This season Musetti has already had to withdraw from a clay competition. He dropped at least one set in eight of his last nine completed matches as well. Three times in 11 clay matches, he lost.
