Matteo Berrettini vs Holger Rune Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Shanghai Masters

12th seed Holger Rune has a tough opening match in the Shanghai Masters. After receiving a first round bye, he takes on unseeded Matteo Berrettini in the last 64 of this hard court tournament. Here's our match prediction.

Rune is 14th in the latest rankings but a couple of places lower in the ATP Live Race. Qualifying for the end-of-season ATP Tour Finals isn't looking likely for him unless he goes deep in the remaining Masters tournaments.

He did well in Tokyo last week though and made it to the semi-finals. Rune also reached that stage in August's Cincinnati Masters. Two other hard court semi-finals have been reached this year but his only time in a final was when losing in the Brisbane title decider in January.

Matteo Berrettini has had four previous matches against Rune though he withdrew from one due to injury. Of those that did make it to court, he trails Rune 2-1, all played on hard courts. The most recent meeting saw Rune beat him in three sets in Cincinnati this year.

The Italian is making his way back up the rankings after time out due to injury. He's 44th in the latest ranking list but up to 40th after his first round win in Shanghai. That saw him beat Christopher O'Connell.

He won in straight sets but both went to a tie-break. Another tight match looks likely here and we go for over 22.5 games to be played.
