The 23-year-old lost in straight sets to Max Purcell with the loss being his fourth on the trot. This is the longest he has gone without a win all year. But having defeated Berrettini in this very tournament before, he will fancy his chances of winning again. Auger-Aliassime defeated Berrettini in the third round here two seasons ago to register his only win against the Italian. A second-round tie with either Richard Gasquet or Adrian Mannarino awaits the winner here.
