Matteo Berrettini is back at the Australian Open and will face fellow unseeded player Cameron Norrie in the first round. The winner will then battle Holger Rune or Zhang Zhizhen. Below is our prediction for this match.

Berrettini has returned to Melbourne Park after missing out last season with injury. The Italian is a former semi-finalist here and will be eager for another deep run to get his season off to a good start.

He started his campaign with a first-round loss in Brisbane. Last year, the 28-year-old showed he had gotten over his injury woes as he claimed three titles and finished with a 36-13 record.

Berrettini, who is 34th in the live ranking, defeated Norrie three years ago to win the Queen’s Club Championship.

Norrie has lost his last two matches. The Briton started his season with a run to the quarter-finals in Hong Kong. In his follow-up tournament in Auckland, he would suffer a first-round exit.

These setbacks have seen him tumble four places back in the live ranking and out of the ATP top 50 places. Norrie has lost in the first round at the Australian Open three times in his six appearances.

In the last two seasons, however, he avoided early exits. Last year, he set a new personal record by advancing to the fourth round.
