Eighth seed Matteo Arnaldi and the unseeded Jaume Munar will square off next at the Dallas Open. They will battle in the quarter-finals, with the winner playing Casper Ruud or Yoshihito Nishioka for a place in the final. Below is our prediction for this match.

Arnaldi is having quite the Dallas debut. The Italian, who isn’t a renowned indoor player, has won both his matches this week without losing a set.

He defeated Christopher Eubanks in the first round and then Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, and in both matches, he lost 11 games. The 23-year-old has moved up to 37th in the live ranking.

Arnaldi has won twice before against Munar and is now seeking to claim either player’s first win outside of clay in their matchups.

Munar is also having an exciting debut in Dallas. He has won both of his matches in straight sets to improve to 5-2 record to start the season.

The Spaniard, who also has two wins against Arnaldi, is coming off an impressive victory over fourth seed Ben Shelton. Shelton was favoured to go all the way on home soil.

The win, Munar’s biggest of the year thus far, should have the 27-year-old confident of making it to his second semi-final of the season.

Munar has moved up to 62nd in the live ranking.
