Rafa Nadal makes what is likely to be his farewell appearance at his beloved Roland Garros. He begins the Olympic men's singles tournament with a first round match against Marton Fucosvics from Hungary. Read our prediction of this fascinating contest.

Fans will be wanting Nadal to win for two very good reasons. Firstly, the Spaniard is a total legend at Roland Garros where he won the French Open 14 times. Secondly, if he can beat Fucsovics then we'll have the amazing spectacle of Nadal v Djokovic in round two.

Nadal has already made an impact on these Olympics by being a torch bearer at the opening ceremony. He has got some injury doubts but when doesn't he? He's barely played this year but did recently reach the final of the ATP Tour clay court event held in Bastad. 

This is his third Olympic Games and he won the gold medal in 2016. Three years ago, he lost to Juan del Petro in the last four and was then beaten by Kei Nishikori in the bronze medal play-off. As well as playing singles in Paris, he's already had a win with Carlos Alcaraz in the doubles..

Marton Fucsovics comes into this tournament struggling for form. He's 86th in the live rankings His most recent tournament was on clay in Kitzbuhel and he lost in the first round. That made it five successive losses, though one saw him give his opponent a walkover.

The Hungarian has lost his last three matches on clay but did win the Bucharest title in April. His best at Roland Garros is a fourth round in 2020. His form is a worry and we tip Nadal to win in straight sets.
