Elena Rybakina continues her bid to win a second successive tournament. The tenth seed takes on 25th seeded Martina Trevisan for a place in the last four of the Miami Open. Waiting in the semi-finals will be either third seeded Jessica Pegula or the 27th seed Anastasia Potapova. Rybakina began this tournament ranked seventh but the seedings had already been published, hence her being only tenth. She's second in the Live WTA Race but will go top if winning the title and Aryna Sabalenka loses her quarter final. The 23-year-old has won Indian Wells this year and got to the final of the Australian Open. There have been some big wins along the way with two victories over Iga Swiatek and defeating Sabalenka in the Indian Wells final. This tournament has seen that good form continue but had to go to three sets to beat Anna Kalinskaya and Paula Badosa. The last round saw her get a straight sets win over Elise Mertens. This is her first match against Trevisan and it should be a winning one.

Martina Trevisan has had to win three matches to reach the last 16 of the Miami Open. The French player has had two straight sets wins but had to come from behind in round three to get past Claire Liu. Round four saw her defeat Jelena Ostapenko (seeded 24th) in straight sets. This tournament began with Trevisan ranked 24th but this run to the last 16 has her up to a career high 20th. A win over Rybakina will take her up to 19th. It's done wonders for her ranking in the Live WTA Race, climbing 26 places to 35th. This is her first quarter final of the year but it looks like the end of the road for her, back Rybakna to win in straight sets.
