It's been another unpredictable WTA singles tournament. Only three of the 16 seeds have made it to the last eight. The top seed was Ons Jabeur who was beaten by Martina Trevisan in round three. The Italian now takes on fellow unseeded player Caroline Dolehide. For the winner there's a semi-final against either Leylah Fernandez or Sofia Kenin so we're guaranteed an unseeded player in the final. Martina Trevisan was in 54th place in the rankings at the start of her hard court tournament. Her run to this quarter final has seen her climb to 41st. Trevisan was as high as 18th four months ago but lost the points earned when reaching the Roland Garros semi-final last year. It's not been too successful a year for the Italian who had lost nine of her 13 main draws matches in hard court events before this week.

Caroline Dolehide is certainly having a week to remember. It began with her in 111th place but reaching the last eight has taken her up to 78th in the live list. That's 21 places higher than her career high. The 25-year-old had lost her last three matches before this tournament and that included losing to a player ranked outside the top 600. It's all gone well for her here thogh with but she had a tough first round match. That saw her come from behind to beat Peyton Stearns in a match where every set went to a tie-break. Since then, the American had a three-set win over lucky loser Sachia Vickery and then beat eighth seeded Ekaterina Alexandrova for the loss of just three games. There's been one previous meeting with Dolehide winning a hard court match played three years ago but needing a final set to do so. We are going for over 22.5 games to be played.
