The 28-year-old hasn’t always looked like a potential Wimbledon champion. Her first six visits saw her fail to get past the second round. It’s been all-change since 2021 when reaching the last eight. Jabeur lost in the final to Elena Rybakina last year and now she’s back trying to finally win a Grand Slam singles title. This tournament has seen her drop sets against Bianca Andreescu, Elena Rybakina and in the semifinals to Aryna Sabalenka. Jabeur had to come from a set down to win the latter match. With the second and third seeds already beaten, a first Tunisian Grand Slam winner looks very possible. Jabeur is 3-3 in previous meetings with Vondrousova but has lost twice to her this year. They have met once before on grass and it was Jabeur who beat her at Eastbourne two years ago.

Marketa Vondrousova is an unlikely Wimbledon finalist. Four previous appearances in this Grand Slam produced just one win. That was in 2021 when beating 24th seeded Anett Kontaveit after losing the first set. Her run ended when losing in round two to Emma Raducanu. Fast forward 12 months and while Raducanu is out injured, Vondrousova finds herself in the Wimbledon final. It’s her second Grand Slam final after losing the 2019 Roland Garros title decider. Vondrousova began this tournament ranked 42nd but is up to 16th in the live list and will be tenth if winning this final. This year has seen her beat 12th seeded Veronika Kudermetova and 20th seed Donna Vekic in straight sets. Round four saw her have to come from behind to knock out the 32nd seed Marie Bouzkova. Another three-setter (middle set lost) saw her beat the fourth seed Jessica Pegula in the last eight. Her excellent form continued with a straight sets win over Elina Svitolina in the semifinal.
