Marketa Vondrousova is making her return to the WTA Tour after undergoing shoulder surgery last year. The former Wimbledon champion is 50th in the live rankings and this is only her second event of the year, both played on outdoor hard courts.

Her only other tournament this year was in Adelaide where the 25-year-old retired injured in the second round. Back ft again, Vondrousova has this week beat Emma Raducanu and fourth seed Yulia Putintseva, both in straight sets. This is her fourth match against Bencic and trails 2-1. The last two matches played between them have both been won by Bencic with all their meetings being on this surface.

Bencic is 126th in the live rankings and has also had her fair share of injuries. This year has seen the Swiss player reach round two in Adelaide. In the Australian Open, the 27-year-old was beaten in the last 16, being beaten by Cori Gauff in three sets.

This week has seen her beat Rebecca Sramkova and then Veronika Kudermetova. The latter was won without a game being lost. We tip Bencic to win this match.
