Marin Cilic had plenty of chances to get a win in his opening group match in the ATP Tour Finals. He lost two tie-breaks to Alexander Zverev. He served for the first set and was a break up in the second but managed to lose in straight sets. Now he takes on John Isner who predictably lost in straight sets to world number one Novak Djokovic. Whoever loses this match is extremely unlikely to be able to qualify for the semi-finals but the winner will have some hope, though if that happens to be Cilic, he'll have Djokovic to face in his last match who beat him in the Paris Masters recently.Cilic hasn't been in good form in the second half of the year but did get a win over Gregor Dmitrov in Paris and took a set off Djokovic before losing the next two. Before that though his last four tournaments had ended in defeat by a player outside the top 40.

Heavy serving John Isner only took seven games off Novak Djokovic in his opening game in this tournament. He had an impressive spell of form earlier in the year reaching the semi-final at Wimbledon and the last eight at the US Open. It's not gone so well since though, even when he reached the last four of the Stockholm Open, he lost to Ernests Gulbis, ranked 145th in the world and didn't beat anyone in the top 60. Cilic has won seven of his ten previous matches against Isner, though the American has had the upper hand in recent meetings. A bet on Cilic looks the one to be on as long as he takes his chances.
