Marin Cilic will take on world number 21 Alejandro Tabilo in the opening round of the Swiss Indoors. This match on Tuesday will be their first career meeting and we have a prediction for it.

Cilic returns to competitive action after a two-week break, and will hope to snap a two-match skid. The Croat, who claimed the Basel title in 2016, lost in the opening rounds in Shanghai and Tokyo.

This came after he seemed to have turned the corner with his title success in Hangzhou.

A strong indoor hardcourt player, Cilic, who is slowly returning to full fitness after a lengthy time out, has compiled an 8-8 record. He is currently 202nd in the live ranking.

Alejandro Tabilo has registered a strong 36-25 record but in recent weeks, has struggled to win matches. The Chilean has lost eight times in his last 10 outings.

Five of those defeats have come on indoor hard courts where he has managed just one victory. Tabilo was defeated in the quarter-finals in Almaty in his last appearance.

The 27-year-old, who has moved up two places in the live ranking, has won two titles this year. The victory in Auckland marked his maiden tour success and then followed it up with a triumph in Mallorca.

The winner here will face Andrey Rublev or Nuno Borges next.
