Serena Williams had to battle hard to get past Sloane Stephens in the last 32 of the US Open. The American faces another tough battle when taking on Maria Sakkari, who has a recent win over her. Williams is still chasing that elusive Grand Slam victory that will take her level with Margaret Court and has a difficult draw to contend with. Williams won her first two matches in straight sets but then struggled against Sloane Stephens. She went a set down before winning the final two sets, both by a margin of 6-2. 

The world number eight will be out for revenge after losing to Sakkari in the recent Western and Southern Open. Sakkari won that match in three sets after going a set down. The Greek player leveled the score by winning a second-set tie-break and then ran away with the final set 6-1. Sakkari had her own struggles in the first two rounds of this US Open, having to go to three sets in both matches against Stefanie Vogele and Bernarda Pera. She showed better form in the last round though, cruising to a straight sets win over 22nd seeded Amanda Anismova. The 15th seed now takes on Serena Williams having made it to the fourth round for the second successive Grand Slam. She's yet to reach a quarter final but has a good chance here. This should be a close match and the tip is to go for over 21.5 games to be played.
