Maria Sakkari vs Marta Kostyuk Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Wimbledon Championships

World number eight Maria Sakkari will take on 37th-ranked Marta Kostyuk in the first round of Wimbledon on Tuesday. The winner of this match will face either Alison Riske-Amritraj or Paula Badosa in round two. Sakkari and Kostyuk have met twice in the past, with Sakkari winning both, though those were on the hard court. Despite not winning a title as yet this year, the Greek has been consistent for the most part and comes into this competition carrying a record of 24-13 for the year. She stepped onto the grass for the first time this season in Nottingham and suffered a second-round defeat but bounced back very well in Berlin the next week. Sakkari beat Alize Cornet, Aliaksadra Sasnovich, and Marketa Vondrousova without dropping a set en route to the semi-final. However, she looked somewhat leggy thereafter and was unable to overcome Donna Vekic, who was the eventual runner-up. The Greek made it to the third round of this competition last year and has a decent record on the grasscourt of 4-2 for the year and 27-18 since 2016.

After winning her first-ever WTA title earlier this year, Kostyuk’s form has taken a dip of late. She comes into this competition off the back of two consecutive first-round losses and has not gotten past the second round of any tournament since March. In the 10 matches since her title win in Austin, Kostyuk has lost seven, leaving her record for the year at 18-13. Her preparation is also a little questionable, having only played one match on the grass before this one, which ended in a loss to Anastasia Potapova in Birmingham last week. The Ukrainian has made it to the second round of Wimbledon in her last two attempts but will know that she will be up against it here.
