Maria Sakkari vs Danielle Collins Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Charleston Open
by Daniel Ngulu | in Tennis Predictions
Third seed Maria Sakkari and the in-form Danielle Collins will meet next at the Charleston Open. They will square off in the semifinals with the winner playing either Jessica Pegula or Daria Kasatkina for the title. Maria Sakkari has been in exquisite form in Charleston and has advanced to this round without dropping a set. In three matches, the most games the Greek has relinquished is six. She allowed Viktoriya Tomova six games in her opener and then Veronika Kudermetova last time out. The win over the Russian was her eighth in the last 10 outings and improved her record to 15-6. This has allowed her to move up to sixth in the live ranking. Sakkari is the second highest-ranked player left in Charleston. Winning the title here will tighten her hold on sixth place. The 28-year-old has defeated Collins twice in three matchups. This is their first clay court showdown.
Danielle Collins has been in excellent form for the last month or so. The American has won 14 of her last 16 matches and is currently on an 11-match winning run. This streak started in Miami where she ended up as champion and secured the first WTA 1000 title of her career. The momentum has carried on to Charleston where she has won three of her four matches without losing a set. Collins is having quite the farewell tour after announcing that this will be her final season as a pro athlete. The 30-year-old defeated Elise Mertens by the loss of seven games in the quarterfinals. She has now won 24 of 31 matches this season. Collins’ exemplary form has propelled her back into the WTA top 20 for the first time in over a year. Having defeated Sakakri last August in their last encounter, Collins will be confident of victory here.

Our Maria Sakkari vs Danielle Collins Prediction
Our prediction for Maria Sakkari v Danielle Collins is for Collins to win in three sets. Both Sakkari and Collins have been in fine form this season and have been even better in Charleston. This should result in a well-fought-out duel with both players more than capable of winning at the very least a set. Collins however should carry the day as she is the most in-form player in the WTA at the moment. She also took the spoils the last time she and Sakkari squared off, which was less than a year ago.
All tips are fully researched and given in good faith, but profits cannot be guaranteed.
