An unseeded player will be in the final of the hard court Guadalajara Open Akron. Qualifier Olivia Gadecki faces unseeded Camila Osorio for a place in the title decider. Here’s our match prediction.

Last week saw Gadecki reach the last eight of the WTA 125 tournament that was also held in Guadalajara. That good form has continued in this WTA 500 event. At the start of the week, the Australian was ranked 152nd.

Two qualifiers had to be played to make it into the main draw. That wasn’t a problem for the 22 year-old with only nine games being lost in two matches. Round one in the main draw saw her defeat Sloane Stephens, again in straight sets.

A surprise was achieved in the last 16 with a win over second seed Danielle Collins with both sets won 6-3. That took Gadecki into her first quarter-final at this level. A set was finally dropped as the second was won by her opponent Martina Trevisan.

The Australian responded well and won the final set for the loss of only one game. Her run to her first WTA Tour semi-final has seen her climb to a career-high 103rd in the live rankings.

Camila Osorio has already won one WTA Tour title this year. That came in  her home country of Colombia but was in a clay court tournament. Two previous finals on this surface have been reached but both lost.

This week has seen the world number 80 in impressive form throughout this tournament. Round one saw her get the better of Hailey Baptiste with just five games lost. Seventh seed Veronika Kudermetova was beaten in three sets in round two.

That three-setter lasted 201 minutes but Osorio had a more straightforward quarter-final. Unseeded Kamilla Rakhimova was beaten in straight sets. We tip Osorio to win this match.
