Camilia Osorio faces Hailey Baptiste in the first round of this WTA 500 event in Guadalajara. In round two, the winner takes on either seventh seed Veronika Kudermetova or a qualifier. Here's our match prediction.

Camila Osorio is 80th in the live rankings and that's 22 places above her opponent. Osorio was beaten by Mirra Andreeva in the first round of the US Open. Before that she lost to Emma Navarro in the last 16 in Monterrey so will want to get a win here.

The Colombian has achieved her best results on clay this year with one title being won. On hard courts though, the 22-year-old has reached a couple of WTA Tour finals. Both were lost and the most recent was in 2022.

Despite preferring clay, Osorio's two previous wins over Baptiste both came on hard courts. Their only other match was on clay and ended in defeat for Osorio but that was five years ago. This is their first meeting since 2019.

Hailey Baptiste is 102nd in the live rankings and didn't make it into the main draw of the US Open. Baptiste had to qualify and after winning two matches was beaten by Maya Joint in the final qualifying round.

That was the second straight failure to qualify for a main draw, having also done so in Cincinnati. Not since February has the American won two main draw matches. That was in a WTA 125 tournament in Mexico but no top 200 ranked players were beaten.
