Marcos Giron vs James Duckworth Prediction & Betting Tips - San Diego, USA, Qualifying

Third seeded Marcos Giron takes on the seventh seed James Duckworth in the San Diego Open quarter finals. Giron is the world number 58 but before this hard court tournament had lost 24 of his 36 matches played this year on the ATP Tour. That includes winning just one match in the four Grand Slam events. He has had some success though with a semi-final in Dallas and last eight appearances in Acapulco and Munich. At his best he can do well against top players and has wins this year over Diego Schwartzman, Taylor Fritz and Pablo Carreno Busta. He beat Tomas Martin Etcheverry in straight sets in the second round of this tournament. 

James Duckworth is the world number 83 but in January was a career high 46th.  He needs a good week as points are about to be lost after good performances this time last year. That's why he's down to 101st in the live rankings. The Australian has also had a disappointing year with only five of his 18 ATP Tour matches won before this tournament. He's had more success on the Challenger Tour with a recent final in France but no top 100 ranked players were beaten. He failed to follow up on that though and lost to Lukas Rosol in his last tournament and he was ranked 305th at the time.  That was better than his loss to then world number 669 Gabriel Diallo in the Montreal Masters.  Duckworth has shown some better form this week with wins over Alexei Popyrin (in three sets) and qualifier Mitchell Krueger. Go for Giron to get the win here.
