Sixth seeded Miomir Kecmanovic takes on unseeded Marco Cecchinato in the Estoril Open semi-final. Awaiting the winner in the final of this outdoor clay court tournament are either top seed Casper Ruud or qualifier Quentin Halys. This will be the second meeting between the two, the other was also on clay last year with Kecmanovic getting a straight sets win. Cecchinato is hoping to mark his third appearance in Estoril by advancing to the final for the first time. The Italian never managed to get past the first round in his previous two appearances. He has had a rocky season so far and before arriving in Estoril, had only won three matches. His success in the tournament has catapulted him up 16 places to 80th in the live ranking which is the highest he has been since 2021. The 30-year-old has dropped just one set in his three matches and had to dig deep to defeat third seed Alejandro Fokina in straight sets of 7-5, 7-6 in the quarterfinals.

The Serbian has also had a topsy-turvy season but has performed much better compared to Cecchinato and has now won 11 matches out of the 19 he has played. He has looked particularly impressive in Estoril where he has won all three of his matches without dropping a single set. Every win has been impressive but his second-round humbling of the unseeded Jurij Rodionov stands out as he allowed the Austrian just one game the entire match. Having started the tournament ranked 40th in the world, Kecmanovic is now up to 36th in the live ranking. He will hope to prolong his stay at the tournament which will in turn take him even closer to being seeded for next month’s French Open.
