Magdalena Frech vs Olga Danilovic Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Mutua Madrid Open
by Devesh Jaganath | in Tennis Predictions
The eagerly-anticipated WTA Madrid Open will get underway this week, and in the first round of qualifiers, we will see Magdalena Frech take on Olga Danilovic on Monday afternoon. Frech, currently ranked 100th in the world, has had a difficult time of it this season and has looked some way below the form that got her to the final of the W100+H tournament in Dubai last December. The Pole has participated in nine tournaments to date this year but has only made it past the qualifiers on three occasions and has yet to get past the round of 32. This is Frech’s second clay-court tournament of the year since November last year, where she managed to put on strong performances in the W80 tournaments in Valencia and Madrid, reaching the round of 16 and semi-finals, respectively. She comes into this tournament with an overall record of 8-12 for the year, and following her exit during qualification at her first clay tournament in Charleston at the start of the month, Frech’s clay record for the year is now 1-1. The Pole has beaten this opponent once before, though that win came on the hard surface back in 2021.
Meanwhile, Olga Danilovic has also found it difficult to string together good results and is yet to get past the first round of a major tournament this year. Ranked 135th, Danilovic had a good season on this surface last year, reaching the final in Lausanne in July, where she was beaten by Petra Martic in straight sets. Since then, though, the Serbian has failed to impress and comes into this tournament following defeats in the first qualifier at Miami and in the round-robin at BJK Cup last week. She now holds a record of 8-7 for the year and 2-1 on the clay surface. The Serbian has positive career record of 97-42 on the clay, and she will be hoping that she can get back to winning ways in this one; however, she may find it difficult against an opponent that has gotten the better of her once before.

Our Magdalena Frech vs Olga Danilovic Prediction
With both players far from their best so far this year, there’s little to choose between them on bookmakers’ odds, though the Pole is the marginal favourite at odds of 1.75 on average. Having beaten this opponent comprehensively in the past, albeit on a different surface, Frech will still draw confidence from that win, and we fancy that she may be able to repeat that performance in this one. Our Magdalena Frech v Olga Danilovic prediction is a win for Frech.
