Fourth seed Carolina Garcia takes on fifth seeded Magdalena Frech in the Guadalajara Open semi-final. The winner will face qualifier Olivia Gadecki or unseeded Camila Osorio in the final. Here's our match prediction.

Garcia is the higher seed but not the favorite to win this match. The French player loves this tournament though and is in the semi-finals for the second successive year.  

In the live rankings, Garcia is up to 29th and can climb four places if reaching the final. Before this tournament the 30-year-old had lost her last three matches, all on different surfaces.  It's been an easier week for her so far back on hard courts.

Garcia has only had to step on court once to reach the last four. That was against qualifier Ena Shibahara who was beaten in straight sets, both won by a tie-break. Her scheduled quarter-final opponent Marie Bouzkova then withdrew due to injury.

Magdalena Frech has had a busier week than her opponent. The Pole is up six places to a career-high 37th in the live rankings thanks to this run to her first WTA hard court semi-final of the year.

Frech beat Emina Bektas in straight sets in round one. That was followed by a tougher match against Ashlyn Krueger and she had to come from behind to get the win. Only four games were dropped in the two sets she won.

The 26-year-old then beat wild card Marina Stakusic in straight sets, losing seven games. There's been one previous meeting between these players. It was at this year's hard court Australian Open with Frech winning in straight sets.
