Keys first made it to an Australian Open semi-final ten years ago. A win over Svitolina will see her reach the last four in Melbourne for the first time since 2022. The 29-year-old has made an excellent start to the new year with a title win in Brisbane and is up to 12th in the live rankings.

This tournament has seen her win four more matches with two sets lost against Anna Li and in the last round, sixth seed Elena Rybakina. Keys leads Svitolina 3-2 in previous matches (all on hard courts), winning the most recent one in Australia three years ago.

Elina Svitolina is making her comeback from injury and last played in the 2024 US Open five months ago. The Ukrainian is in her third Australian Open quarter-final. The last was in 2019 and she's never reached the last four.
