Mackenzie Mcdonald vs Corentin Moutet Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Winston-Salem Open

Unseeded pair Corentin Moutet and Mackenzie McDonald meet in round one of the Winston Salem Open. Both players will want to get some time on court this week in the run up to the US Open. Here's our match prediction.

The winner will face a seed in round two of this hard court tournament but not the one they expected. Second seed Jack Draper has withdrawn so the winner here will instead face a new 17th seed Roman Safiulin.

Corentin Moutet is 68th in the live rankings and he lost to Fabian Marozsan in Cincinnati this week. Before that match he had won two qualifying matches to make it into the main draw. Those were his first hard court wins of the year.

That's not as surprising as you might think. The fact is he rarely plays on hard courts, much preferring to try and get wins on clay. Plus he didn't play this year until February. He has played well on this surface in the past with a fourth round at the US Open in 2022.

Mackenzie McDonald is down at 140th in the live rankings. He's slipped down the rankings after recently losing the points earned when reaching the quarter-finals in the Canadian Open and last 16 in Cincinnati Masters.

McDonald lost in round one in Canada this year and was beaten in the first qualifying round of the Cincinnati tournament. Of his 11 hard court matches played this year only four have ended in victory. He did win the only match between these players but we tip Moutet to win on Sunday.
