Mackenzie Mcdonald vs Milos Raonic Prediction & Betting Tips - Toronto, Canada
by Devesh Jaganath | in ATP Toronto Predictions
World number 46 Mackenzie McDonald will take on wildcard Milos Raonic in the ATP Toronto Open on Thursday. The winner of this match will move on to face either Alejandro Davidovich Fokina or Casper Ruud in the next round. These two have faced each other twice in the past and have won one match each. The American comes into this match following one of his best results of the year, overcoming world number seven Andrey Rublev in straight sets in the last round. That win followed another impressive win against Aslan Karatsev in the opening round. McDonald will now be aiming to make it to the last eight of a tournament for the fourth time this season, with his most recent coming last month in Newport. The American is 25-21 for the year and 15-8 on the hard court, which is also his favoured surface. McDonald had never won a match here in Canada in past years but now has a good opportunity of progressing even further against a player that has not played a lot of tennis in recent times.
Following an extended absence through injury, Milos Raonic continues to work his way back to full fitness, with this being just his third tournament since returning to action. The Canadian’s last match before injury was in July 2021, when he had also broken inside the top 15 in the world after reaching the last 16 at the Australian Open that year. Raonic’s peak ranking was third back in 2016, which tells you everything you need to know about his ability, and on his home court, he has been very good so far. Raonic beat Taro Daniel in straight sets in the last round. That followed a mighty battle with world number ten Frances Tiafoe, which he won in three sets and in just over three hours. His record is now 4-2 and 2-0 on the surface. The major concern for Raonic will be his conditioning after a very long time out and having played a gruelling match just a couple of days ago. Still, he is the bookies favourite to reach the next round.

Our Mackenzie Mcdonald vs Milos Raonic Prediction
This is a very tricky one to call. McDonald has been fairly consistent this year, but we know the quality that Raonic possesses, and we’ve seen glimpses of that already in this tournament. The big question mark is whether he can maintain the intensity after such a long time out, and we feel that he could grab the first set but may struggle as the match goes on. Our Mackenzie McDonald vs Milos Raonic prediction: Three sets.
