Lulu Sun vs Ekaterina Alexandrova Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Monterrey Open

Third seed Ekaterina Alexandrova faces unseeded Lulu Sun in the Monterrey Open semi-final. In the final, the winner will be up against either second seed Emma Navarro or sixth-seeded Linda Noskova. Here's our semi-final match prediction.

Alexandrova was ranked 30th in the latest rankings list and can rise a place if reaching this hard court final. The Russian is the 29th seed at the upcoming US Open and could meet Sun in round three of that Grand Slam.

Recent form hasn't been great for Alexandrova but she seems to be back on track in Monterrey this week. A return to the form that saw her beat both Iga Swiatek and Jessica Pegula in Miami would see her win this tournament.

This week has seen her beat Renata Zarazua and seventh seed Yue Yuan and is yet to drop a set in this tournament. 

Lulu Sun was outside the top 200 at the start of this year but is now a career-high 48th in the live rankings. The New Zealander will need to be in good form when the US Open starts as she could play Aryna Sabalenka in round two.

Sun reached the quarter-finals at this year's Wimbledon but has shown good form on hard courts too with a couple of ITF tournaments won. Before this week she hadn't reached a WTA Tour hard court quarter-final.

Wins have come over Chloe Paquet, Maria Lourdes Carle (in three sets) and Erika Andreeva, all of whom were unseeded. We tip Alexandrova to win this match.
