The second quarter-final of Night 9 from Berlin in the Premier League Darts season will see Luke Humphries facing off against Rob Cross. Cool Hand Luke is in second place in the league standings with 18 points, while Voltage is in fifth place with 12 points after the first half of the campaign. Let’s get into the match prediction.
Luke Humphries saw the gap to the top of the standings widen to eight points last week when he was fairly comfortably beaten in the final 6-1 by the red-hot Luke Littler in Newcastle.
Cool Hand Luke has won two Nights, finished as runner-up twice and has one semi-final appearance this season. He also has 50 180s in the competition, which is second to the Nuke’s 102.
Unlike several others, Humphries did not play at the Players Championship over the weekend. His recent record is an even split of five wins and five defeats in his last 10 matches in all competitions.
Meanwhile, Rob Cross made a very impressive start last week, beating Gerwyn Price 6-2 in the quarter-final before he too went down to Littler, losing 6-3 in the semi-final.
Voltage has yet to feature in a final this season and has bowed out in the semis more than any other player to date, doing so on six occasions. Notably, though he has pinned 42 180s, which is the fourth-most in the competition.
Cross beat Humphries on Night 5 in the quarter-final and has the better head-to-head record in recent times with seven wins in the last 10 matches between these two.
