Match 26 in the 2024 Indian Premier League will see the Lucknow Super Giants taking on the Delhi Capitals at Ekana Sports City on Friday afternoon. The hosts are currently in third place, while the visitors are bottom of the league standings. LSG have made a very promising start to their IPL campaign, bagging six points in their first four games with a healthy net run rate of +0.775. They began the competition with a 20-run loss to the Rajasthan Royals but bounced back with consecutive wins over the Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and most recently, Gujarat Titans last weekend. Nicholas Pooran has been the key contributor for the Super Giants with the bat so far in the competition, currently on 178 runs in four innings and ranked sixth in the race for the orange cap. Mayank Yadav has six wickets to his name in just nine overs and currently ranks eighth in the leading wicket-takers leaderboard. The hosts have won all three of their previous matches against this opponent and are the clear favourites in this one. 

Meanwhile, after failing to reach the playoffs in the last two seasons, the Delhi Capitals already have a mountain to climb if they are to reach the knockout stages this term. They are heading into their sixth match of the competition at the bottom of the table with just two points and a net run rate of -1.370. Their only win in the competition to date was a huge upset where they overcame the Chennai Super Kings, though they suffered defeat at the hands of the Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders and the Mumbai Indians. The Capitals are yet to find their best form with bat and ball, with only Tristan Stubbs (174) currently ranking in the top ten runs scorers in the competition and just Khaleel Ahmed featuring in the top ten for the purple cap with seven wickets in five games. Delhi need the likes of David Warner to find top gear and start posting positive results soon, or they could be cut adrift from the chasing pack early in the competition.
