Luciano Darderi vs Sebastian Baez Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Hamburg Open

Two seeds meet in the quarter-finals of the clay court Hamburg Open. Third seed Sebastian Baez takes on Luciano Darderi who is seeded sixth in this tournament. For the winner, seeded opponents are due to be Holger Rune or Arthur Fils.

Baez is ranked 19th in the world and up a place in the live rankings after reaching this quarter-final. The Argentinian has won two clay court tournaments this year. Both were on the South American tour and won in successive weeks.

Since then, the only other quarter-final on clay that has been reached was in Geneva and he lost in round two at Roland Garros. Baez lost all three of the grass court matches he played last month so will be relieved to be back on clay.

This week has seen him beat Dominik Koepfer (for the loss of only five games) and then Dusan Lajovic. It was a tougher match in round two as he lost the first set of that match. He fought back well and only lost seven games in the next two sets.

Luciano Darderi is at a career-high 32nd in the live rankings. That's beaten his previous best of 34th achieved in June. He also has had more success on clay this year. The Cordoba clay court tournament was won and he reached a quarter-final in Santiago. Since then, Darderi has also made it to semi-finals in Houston and Lyon.

To reach the last eight he's had to play two three-set matches. Round one saw him beat lucky loser Nick Hardt, winning the decider without dropping a game. He followed that up with a three-set victory over unseeded Alexander Shevchenko, again dropping the middle set. We tip Baez to win this.
