25th seed Lorenzo Musetti bids to reach the Wimbledon third round for the second successive year. He faces fellow Italian, unseeded Luciano Darderi in Thursday's second round match. Whoever wins will face either Francisco Comesana or Adam Walton in round three, both unseeded.

Musetti is the world number 25 but three places higher in the ATP Race. The Italian is playing this grass court Grand Slam for the fourth time. His first two visits both resulted in first round exits. He made it to round three last year but lost to Hubert Hurkacz in straight sets.

This year has seen him reach the last four in Stuttgart. He then went one better by being the runner-up at Queen's Club. That's the only grass court final he's ever reached. Round one here saw him come from behind to beat Constant Lestienne in four sets after losing the first set.

Luciano Darderi had a tough battle to reach the second round for the first time. He beat British player Jan Choinski despite losing two of the first three sets. Last year saw him make his first appearance in this tournament but he lost in qualifying round one.

Darderi is up to 35th in the live rankings but is seven places higher in the ATP Race..That's more down to his success on clay than this surface. Before this Grand Slam, he'd played two grass court tournaments in 2024 winning just one of his three matches.

He trails Musetti 1-0 in previous meetings. That was in the Turin Challenger Tour event played on clay this year. We go for over 3.5 sets to be played in this match.
