Unseeded players Lucia Bronzeti and Katerina Siniakova will on Saturday face off in the final of the Bad Homburg Open. Siniakova defeated Emma Navarro to book this match while Bronzetti was handed a walkover by top seed Iga Swiatek. Lucia Bronzetti will thus head to this match with the advantage of having had a full day to refresh. This will be a major boost in her quest to win her second title of the season. Before this season, the Italian had only played one WTA tour final which she lost in Palermo last season. She won the Morocco Open for her first tour title and should be confident of matching this feat. Bronzetti has been in fine form in Bad Homburg where she has lost only one set in her three matches. Her success has reflected in the WTA live ranking as well, where she is up to 47th, a career high for her.

Katerina Siniakova lost in Bad Homburg two seasons ago. She will hope that this isn’t the case this time around. The Czech is preparing to play her first final of the year and eighth tour final of her career. She has struggled and has lost four times. However, she was victorious in her last final in Slovenia in September. Siniakova has a record of 12 wins and nine losses this year with four of her victories coming on grass. She has also dropped one set here and upon advancing to the final, has moved up to 39th in the live ranking. Siniakova is more experienced on grass than Bronzetti but she hasn’t dominated on the surface. She has won only one more match than losses suffered, compiling a 22-21 record thus far.
