Seventh seed Lucia Bronzetti will take on qualifier Antonia Ruzic in the Jasmine Open quarter-finals this Friday. In this match, the two will be meeting for the first time, and we have a prediction ready.

World number 86 Bronzetti will be the favorite here, by her profile, but will have to put in her best to handle the hardworking Ruzic. To advance to this round, Bronzetti spent one hour and 56 minute to overcome Li Ann in straight sets of 6-4, 7-6.

It hasn’t been an easy run for the Italian, who came here after a second-round elimination at the US Open. With her win in the last round, Bronzetti has recorded a 22-27 record, highlighting the difficult campaign she’s having. She will be eyeing her second gong after winning the Contrexeville Challenger.

Antonia Ruzic is having an interesting year as she eyes her first tour title. She overcame Lily Miyazaki in straight sets to book her place in this round. The World number 173 will not be meeting a higher ranked player for the first time, she beat fourth seed Nadia Podoroska earlier.

Her win in the last round took her record for the season to 33-16 and a majority of her wins came on hard court. The 21-year-old will thus be quite confident coming here.

She arrived in Monastir having lost her opening game at the US Open but is currently on four wins, three in straight sets. Her only title this year was at Nonthaburi in the ITF. Ruzic’s form has pushed her 21 places up in the live ranking to 152nd,  a new career high.

The winner here will face off with one of Sara Sorribes Tormo or Rebecca Sramkova in the semis.
