Now this is all a bit confusing but let's try to make sense of it all. Lucas Pouilee started the week by losing in the final qualifying round to Mikhail Kukushkin. His opponent then went on to lose to Andy Murray in the last 32. Not the end of the week for Mr Pouille though as the withdrawal of Jo-Wilfred Tsonga gave Pouille a lucky losers place in the last 32. He found himself a set down to Ernest Gulbis but came back to win two sets to one. Then he caused a a big shock by beating David Ferrer in straight sets to set up a quarter final place against Juan Monaco who pulled out injured giving Pouille the match against Andy Murray he'd have had earlier in the week if he'd beaten Kukushkin!  A strange story indeed for the world number 52, let's hope Murray makes it onto court on Saturday morning. Pouille reached the last 32 in Madrid last week beating David Goffin (beaten by Murray on Friday in this tournament) on the way. Before that he won a clay tournament in Bucharest but the highest ranked player he beat was world number 29 Ivo Karlovic. He has beaten two top ten player this year with a win over David Ferrer in Miami and Richard Gasquet in Monte Carlo. The Frenchman will be up against it on Saturday though as he faces Andy Murray who has reached a semi-final and a final in his last two tournaments and is yet to drop a set here. I think Murray can get a good win here as surely Pouille's luck can't carry on like it has so far this week.
