The massive slate of NBA games for Martin Luther King Jr. day concludes with this one as the Utah Jazz head down to Tinseltown to take on the Los Angeles Lakers. The visitors are coming off a convincing 125-102 away win against Denver last night and will be playing a back to back here. The Jazz were able to snap their four game losing streak with the win and move ahead of the Memphis Grizzlies into third place in the Western Conference - Utah currently holds a record of 29 wins and 14 losses. The Lakers have been having an extremely disappointing season for a team that many thought would be legitimate title contenders. Many Laker fans will now be hoping that the team can simply qualify for the playoffs at this rate. LA has lost their last three games with their most recent loss, an embarrassing 133-96 blowout to the Nuggets a particular lowlight for the season. The Lakers are barely holding on to the eight seed in the West with a record of 21-22. 

This game comes at a bad time for LA, in the middle of a losing streak and playing one of the NBA’s best teams who finally broke out of their funk. LeBron James has been playing at an incredible level but he simply doesn’t have enough support. Russell Westbrook has been an unmitigated disaster and Anthony Davis can’t stay healthy. Things aren’t looking good in Hollywood and the mood around the team is quickly becoming toxic. The Jazz on the other hand have been having an impressive season yet again. They boast one of the league’s best away records at 15-6 as well as a dominant defense. Rudy Gobert is a force on the inside and Donovan Mitchell is an underrated superstar. Utah has one of the deepest and most balanced teams in the league and will be a major contender come playoff time.
