With 37 wins already this season, the Los Angeles Lakers are top of not just the Pacific Division but the whole Western Conference.  Win 38 should come along when they host the San Antonio Spurs who are struggling in the Southwest Division. LA Lakers are only a couple of wins ahead of local rivals the Los Angeles Clippers so they need to keep winning to end in top place going into the postseason. The Lakers have a 37-11 season record and that's with four more games played on the road than at home. 16 of their 22 home games have been won this season and in January, they won five out of their seven home games played. This month has started well for them with a 16-point victory at Sacramento.

San Antonio Spurs are fourth in the Southwest Division of the Western Conference and have a 22-27 record for the season. That puts them tenth overall in the conference and they have three wins to make up on the final postseason qualifying position. The Spurs have won eight of their 23 away games this season, only Cleveland, the Golden State Warriors, and Atlanta have fewer wins on the road. January saw them with a 7-8 record but four of their last six have been lost. Another defeat looms here at the Lakers, who can be backed on a -9.5 points spread.
