The LA Lakers will host the New Orleans Pelicans looking to get back to winning ways in the NBA. Four games separate the two teams in the Western Conference with the Lakers in ninth trailing the sixth-placed Pelicans. The LA Lakers saw a three-game winning run snapped last time out as they fell 114-106 at home to the Nuggets. This was their 26th defeat of the season and 17th against a fellow Western team. Jarred Vanderbilt, Cam Reddish, and Gabe Vincent missed the game and will continue to be sidelined with injuries. The Lakers won the first meeting of the season against the Pelicans. It was a dominant 133-89 victory as hosts and they will seek another similar performance. Darvin Ham’s men are averaging 116.2 points but this has dropped to 114.3 over the last three outings.

The New Orleans Pelicans also produced a dominant victory of their own last time out against the Lakers. They won by 20 after tallying 129 points. This was a month ago in their first match to begin the year. The win ended a run of three successive defeats and they will be keen to produce a winning streak of their own. Willie Green’s men have been in terrific form recently and arrive for this game having won their last four fixtures. Three of those have been against fellow West teams with the most recent coming against the Lakers’ city rivals the Clippers. They won 117-106 away from home against the most in-form team in the league to register their 30th win of the season. Jonas Valanciunas and Zion Williamson both played in the game but remain on the team’s injury report. They have both been listed as ‘Questionable’ for this game. The Pelicans are also averaging 116 points a night.
