It's still very much early days but the LA Lakers could really do with winning this match. They are 0-2 for the new season and host the Memphis Grizzlies who are the exact opposite at 2-0. The Lakers have had a tough fixture list so far. Their season began with a visit from the Golden State Warriors. The Lakers went into the final quarter with a two point lead but couldn't keep that as the Warriors fought back to secure a win by seven points. Another defeat followed as they were beaten by the Phoenix Suns. Again, the Lakers got off to a good start and edged the first quarter. However, it was all Suns for the next two quarters winning them by 30 points. The Lakers won the final quarter by 17 points but they ended up ten points short. LeBron James has got off to a good start with 59 points in two games. He'll be a key figure as ever as the Lakers bid to get their first win of the season and climb off the bottom of the Western Conference Pacific Division.

Memphis Grizzlies made it to the play-offs last season for the first time since the 2016/17 season. They finished second in the Western Conference Southwest Division last season but are top this term. Their two games so far have both been won. The season began with a 11 point win over the Cleveland Cavaliers (1-2 for the season). That was followed by a 120-114 win at the LA Clippers after losing the first quarter by nine points. Ja Morant is the man in form with 65 points in those two games. The last thing that the Lakers will want is to go to 0-3 for the first time since the 2018/19 season. Dwight Howard of the Lakers says that "we're going to get it together" and that looks most likely to take place here. The Lakers may be 0-2 but they've faced two sides tougher than the Grizzlies.
