The in-form LA Lakers will host the Dallas Mavericks in one of the highlighted matches in the NBA. The Lakers arrive for this match as the fourth seed in the Western Conference and have an almost five-game advantage over their eighth-placed visitors. Below is our prediction.

The Lakers won their last two matches, beating Nuggets 123-100 away from home last time out. This was their eighth win in the last 10 games, improving them to a 34-21 record.

The win in Denver was Luka Doncic’s best game since being traded from the Mavericks. He scored a game-high 32 points. The highs of that performance and the need to put on a show against his former team could see Doncic reign supreme.

A depleted Mavericks team won the first meeting of the season with the Lakers 118-97 at home back in January. Doncic and Kyrie Irving missed the game due to injury but they weren't missed.

Spencer Dinwiddie, P.J. Washington and Quentin Grimes, who has since been traded, powered Dallas to that win. Dinwiddie and Washington, together with Irving who is available, will have to stand tall as the Mavs are once again depleted.

Anthony Davis, who moved in the other direction in the Doncic trade, is unavailable and so too are Daniel Gafford and Derrick Lively.

Caleb Martin is also out while Dwight Powell is doubtful. The Mavericks saw a three-match winning run halted by the Warriors who won 126-102 at home.
